Hi All
Well Apple has come out with a new OS and there seem to be some issues with
Print-Tool. Print-Tool has always supported .psd files directly -- this is a feature of
the macOS libraries. However with Mojave some of the metadata in the .psd file
seems to get lost. The most obvious is that the saved PPI of the file is not found
so a default of 72 PPI ends up being used. The data is all there but it ends up appearing
that the height and width are much larger. (i.e. a 360PPI looks 5 times the size at 72ppi).
This is annoying but obvious and you can drag the size to make it what you want.
More insidious is that the embedded ICC profile is not found so all PSD files show
up as untagged. If you are printing with No Color Management this doesn't make a
difference but if you use and expect color management it will likely be wrong.
This is all true regardless of which print driver you use -- QTR driver or Epson or
anything else too.
The good news is that TIFF files work just fine. So you can convert PSD files to TIFF
and actually I recommend using TIFF for all your Photoshop work. After all its a
more universal and open format and can save all the Photoshop special layers etc.
There's also a minor display issue that makes the shadow around the paper look wrong.
It does not seem to affect anything important.
As far as I know there are no problems with QTR driver and Mojave.
Thanks
Roy
