Re: Digital negatives questions

I guess I am not sure why you could not use magenta as a blocker if so inclined with a p800---for UV sensitive processes that may be a better way to go. However, for silver, I have found that just the normal black and gray inks with a tiny bit of yellow and magenta works fine for me. I have no problem getting to maximum white with relatively low black ink limit (far from 100%).

In terms of my own experiences, all that I can tell you is that I have a first cut of a profile based on essentially following the flow in Keith's webpage. It prints negatives that look comparative to a high quality inkjet print in terms of detail, and smoothness. The thing I did not expect is that the inkjet print has higher dynamic range (maximum black almost 2.6 compared to 2.1 on Ilford Warmtone Fiber) so that the same print has deeper blacks. I expected a silver print to look no less flat than the inkjet print. Selenium toning will probably add a little bit of density but I really expected to like the darkroom print a lot more, so I am having to think about whether there are some issues with my process (or what the niche where a true darkroom print from a digital negative will be superior). I am still definitely in the early stages of my explorations.
