install errors (mine, not the program)

2006-01-28 by Bob Smith

Ok... I'm trying to give QTR a whirl. I'm printing from a 10.4.4
system on a G4 Powerbook to an Epson 4000 and 9600, both connected by
ethernet. I know exactly where I screwed up but am having problems
trying to correct the situation. I downloaded and installed QTR onto
my Powerbook while at home. Apparently I only need to actually have
a printer plugged in if I'm using USB to complete the profile install
so I went ahead and ran Installw4000ipp.command. It starts by asking
for the IP address of the printer. I didn't have it at my fingertips
(its in my office in another location) so I tried to exit the script
by typing "exit". Well the script proceeded anyway and now has the
address of my 4000 configured as "exit". Needless to say, QTR won't
work on my 4000. I'm sure the script simply plugged that address
into some config file somewhere but I can't seem to locate which one
in order to manually edit it. Any ideas where to look?

After making this error on the 4000, I installed the 9600 profiles
correctly and brief tests seem to indicate that QTR is working just
fine with it.

Trying to run the un-install package and start over doesn't
accomplish anything as it always reports that there's nothing to
install(?)

thanks in advance for any help
