QTR-Quadtone RIP

Did anyone solve the issue of banding with the R1800?  I also find 
that the dot size increases quite dramatically and the ink doesn't dry 
on glossy paper.  I've read previous posts here and followed the 
advice given (2880, lower ink density), and although it improves, the 
problem doesn't go away.

Has anybody managed to solve these issues?  I'm afraid I don't 
understand enough about how the printer works to create a curve, have 
any of you clever folk managed this?
