I downloaded QTR v2.4.2 to try it out. I'm new to quad tone printing. I would like to learn to create custom curves for a an Epson R220 with an MIS UTR2 Neutral ink set and starting with EEM paper. I am trying to follow the "Creating and Editing Curves with QuadToneRIP" in the QTR User Guide. I'd very much appreciate some guidance please. Questions: 1) First, is what I'm trying to do a good idea or even possible? 2) In QTR calibration mode, after I choose R220 for the printer name, Quadr200-GQ is shown in the printing model DDL box. Should I ignore this? 3) The Ink Separation Test Page is in color. Should I just print it with the MIS inks and examine the grayscale print? 4) Should the source image be in color or grayscale? 5) I also have have an Epson 2200 with Epson ink carts installed. Would I be better off using QTR with the 2200 color inks? Notes: - I've calibrated my monitor with a Spyder 2. - I've calibrated my Epson V750 scanner with EZcolor. - I've created custom ICC profiles for the Epson 2200 with EZcolor - I thought I'd get more neutral blacks with the R220/MIS inks. - I'm hoping I can get even better results with QTR. Thank you for any advice, Michael http://www.portrait-arts.net
