The User Guide is a more general guide to how profiles are made. The Eye-One readme is just specifically about using the Eye-One device. You'll probably want to use both documents for information. The ideal_density.pdf file I guess isn't on the PC download. But if you are using an Eye-One you really won't find it useful. The linearization is done in L values which you already see using the eye-one. The ideal density file is essentially just conversions of linear L values to corresponding density values.
