I use an i1 spectrophotometer to help set the ink limit. Between 70 and 100% ink limit, the i1 readings indicate that there is clipping or even reversal for the matte black wedges. At 70% ink limit, it's still very difficult to visually distinguish between the 95 and 100% wedges, but the i1 readings show a gradient. I then use the 70% ink limit and go through linearization, after which all the individual wedges are visible.
