Creating Curves with a scanner?

2007-02-05 by Holger Nassenstein

Hi all,

I'm a newby in making bw prints. Actually, I'm using Windows XP, PWP prof.,
Epson R220, mediastreet GQ inks on Epson archival matte paper. I'm really
impressed about the quality of the prints. Am waiting for an icc-profile
that will do the softproof for the curve I like the most.
Has anyone experiences with self-defined curves and icc-profiles measured
with a scanner? The profile I'm waiting for becomes measured with a device
from GretagMacBeth. Is that necessary or do I get good results using a
flatbet scanner? I fear one curve isn't enough for me, like high-key and
also low-key prints. The curves I use became created for mediastreet papers,
I like some of them, but need new profiles for my paper.
Is ist possible and legal to exchange curves and profiles here?

Thanks,

Holger
