ok, i think i'm holding a dialogue with myself here. anyway, i think i've found the answer here: http://f1.grp.yahoofs.com/v1/MO_HRYdibvrk37Mh-PaKrONbBpf67BYP-kHS630pr- JDMo2Zn_KoyYnmU9JyOifFlrLn01cjzOrGxcUKLKdS4qIjUZ8fz10U/Docs/ICC%20Info.txt but it'd be nice to hear from someone regarding this question because i want to make sure that i'm on the right track. that is, i don't end up double profiling, otherwise all this effort to linearize and create an ICC profile would be pointless. don't you think? it seems logical that the target shouldn't be color managed in order that my correction curve can be derived from this target correctly. therefore this is the step i have to get right before i can continue to creating an accurate ICC profile. if my correction curve is good, to create my ICC profile, i again print my target without color management, but using the corrected curve. i measure the target, and using the data file created by Measure Tool i use QTR-Create-ICC to generate my ICC profile. Finally, then, i'd print letting photoshop color manage, using perceptual for rendering intent, black point compensation, and the newly generated profile. am i on the right track? can someone confirm, please? anyone out there? thanks again. daniel --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Daniel" <dc1961@...> wrote: > > anyone knows? > > i've printed the step-21-random.tif using two different settings: one Printer Manages > Colors, and the other No Color Management. i did measurements on both and the > measurements between them are very different. > > does anyone knows which setting should be used - Printer Manages Colors or No Color > Management. > > anyone? > > > --- In QuadtoneRIP@yahoogroups.com, "Daniel" <dc1961@> wrote: > > > > i've completed the ink partitioning and created the quad curve file. > > > > now i'm ready for the correction curve process. > > > > per QTR's Eye-One-ReadMe.pdf (pg. 4) it instructs creating the quad curve and print the > > Step-21-gray stepwedge. but before i print the Step-21-gray stepwedge to create a > > correction curve, am i suppose to follow the printing procedure described on page 6 of > > Tutorial.pdf -- that is selecting Let Photoshop Determine Colors, QTR-Gray Matte Paper, > > Rendering, and Black Point Compensation before printing Step-21-gray stepwedge? if > not, > > then should it be No Color Management or Printer Manages Color? > > > > a bit confused here. > > > > your help is appreciated. > > > > thanks. > > > > daniel > > > > QTR 2.4.3 > > Mac OS X > > >
