Need help with inkseparation.tif file

2007-02-08 by robert49brake

Hello all, I've been trying to profile an inkset for use with an
R220 and am running into difficulty getting the inkseperation image
to print correctly. I have the R220 recognized as a QAUDR200 and am
able to access all of the relevant print pages in OSX 10.4.8. I am
trying to print the inkseparation6.tiff image. I have taken the
Photo-nuetral curve descriptor file from the R200-R300-GQ dropdown
and changed the Calibration=to YES, changed default ink limit to 100
and erased the final line: LINEARIZE..., saved as a new name as
detailed in the QTR mini-tutorial in the files section. That file
was added to a folder with the InstallR200 script and installed.
That curve shows up fine in the QTR print page.

The problem is that the image that prints out, through PS, with No
Color Management, through the QTR printer page with QTR Calibration
chosen as well as the curve for the modified file detailed above, the
problem is that the image only prints partial 21 step images for each
ink. For example K starts at 75 with a very light grey and steps up
to dmax at 100, Cyan and Magenta each start at 25, peak density at 65
and then reverse and drop to white at 100. Yellow starts darkest at
5 and goes down in density to 45. LC and LM start at 5, go up to 40
and then descend to 0 at 80.

It would seem to me that I am not entering the calibration mode for
some reason. Any suggestions? I am using UT-3D. (It's what is in
the printer at the moment, the goal eventually is to produce a sepia
with a Yellow/red ink replacing the UT-3D Y position for a limited
run of sepia prints after I get the QTR system down.)

Thanks, Robert.
