QTR-Quadtone RIP

I downloaded the trial version. Does the full version come with more
profiles? If not, why not?

I tried a B&W print using the Epson profile PLPP using Epson Premium
Luster paper and a print using Quadtone Epson Enhanced Matte with
Epson Enhanced matte (using my Photo Black UC ink) and the print
looked washed out (although the highlights (clouds) had a nice look to
them).

Do most B&W photographers only use the rag/fiber type papers with
profiles provided by Quadtone?

I don't feel that I know enough to try to make my own profile.
I would not know where to start.
