Hi Gary, I don't really have a definitive answer for you. There is nothing in the programming manual that talks about changing inks mid-print. QTR certainly doesn't do any thing special about it and in fact hasn't any idea about ink levels in the printer. The way both Windows and Mac OS X treat printers there's really no way to handle that -- both systems spool up the output that is going to the printer so QTR is way ahead of what the printer is actually doing. What this means to me is that the printer firmware has to completely handle this if it has any chance to work. My only guess is that the printer didn't recognize your ink swap or expected something else as well.
