Posterized-looking prints with K6 on a 7000

2008-02-10 by Nemo Niemann

After baulking for over I year, I finally made the switch from the
Piezotone quad inks to the K6 Neutral in my Epson 7000. I usually use
StudioPrint for printing, but have been experiencing some weird
linearization/profile issues, so I thought, since I own it, I'd try
working with QTR again.

I had heard Jon Cone made the curves for the K6, and decided to try a
print with the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag curves. It looked horrible! Strange
posterized effect throughout. I tried creating my own curves (very
rusty doing that with QTR) and found it would not allow me to create
initial curves, saying the "name was illegal", which it wasn't.

Any thoughts?
