Slowly figuring some of this out, but I am still mighty confused. Here are some questions. In the profile section, there are some profiles that are text files and they look as anticipated...showing ink positions etc. Then there are others that are .quad files..which open the CurveView droplet. How are .quad files made, and how do I view the text of these profiles...on the assumption that they are equivalent when installed in QTR. Why are some profiless .quad, and why are some profiles .txt files???? Here is my limited understanding of using QTR to profile from scratch. 1. I characterize the inks, so I set the ink limits and start points of each ink. 2. I then print a step wedge without color management and measure it to get linearization values. 3. Linearize, and cut and paste this into my text file..and reinstall. In using IJC/OPM ( my current rip), there is a graphical interface of multiple curves, setting ink limits and such. CurveView droplet is similar graphic view without adjustment sliders, but how do I convert a text file to .quad. Not quite sure why QTR documentation is so convoluted...multiple writers. While I appreciate shareware (and yes I paid my dues) I am looking for a crash course to take a non standard ink set, and create quality profiles for new printers that IJC/OPM no longer supports. Can anyone point me in the right direction for clean cookbook instructions...or is this a trial and error sort of thing that I need to struggle with. I guess I am looking for a full manual..not the piece meal instructions that are scattered about here and in the QTR dmg. ----- I have experimented with the files on QTR, and one of the droplets does not perform as expected. Drop-Quad-Profile always issues a "command not found" error message. I note this is an issue that has been addressed before, but I have not found the way around this. Thanks for any insight. Confusedly yours, Phil
