I am a new user (Mac, Leopard, Epson 4000, k7 inks) and am attempting to follow the instructions for linearizing a Quadtone RIP curve using the Eye-One. I have printed the QTR 21x4 random stepwedge, scanned it with the Eye One, and used the QTR-Linearize-Data to create the .txt file with the Lab curves. Then I get to the section of the Eye One .pdf file entitled "Linearize a QuadTone RIP Curve". I have created the Ink Descriptor file, but find the instructions at that point too vague. It says "Make the quad curve and print out the Step- 21-gray stepwedge." How does one make the quad curve? Are there further instructions elsewhere? From there I am assuming I should use that curve in the normal manner to print the stepwedge, then rescan with the Eye One and use QTR-Linearize -Data to create a new .txt file and then paste the Linearize=... lines from that file back onto the bottom of the ink descriptor. Correct? At that point I am also unclear what "Reprocess the ink file with Drop- Quad-Profile" means. Do I simply drop the new ink descriptor file onto Drop-Quad-Profile? The instructions suggest this will create a new linearized.txt file but it is again unclear to me how that is then used to create a curve to use in actual printing. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here but would appreciate some help.
