Roy,

Coming back to this my old request: I just bought Lightroom 2.0. It 
has amny valuable enhancements, but still the only "print to file" 
format that is supported is JPEG.

I did some googling and found the following links (there are many

I'm not an expert, but it seem to suggest that this would be a free 
jpeg library. I find many references to it. Does this open an 
opportunity?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
