QTR-Quadtone RIP

I used to use QTR on a R1800 with a 3mk inkset and found it to be an absolutely invaluable tool.  Now that I've moved to a 3800, I am trying to determine whether QTR offers any significant advantages over ABW? 

Would people care to comment specifically with respect to the application of non-Epson papers?  Obviously, one would have to create b&w profiles for the ABW driver for non-Epson papers, as opposed to  generating custom curves in QTR.  So, what are the pro's v. cons and real world findings?  Thanks.
