I experienced the same problem with my 3800 this weekend. I think the culprit was the recent Mac OS update. I found that running the QTR uninstall did not remove the QTR files in either the Applications folder, or the Library folder. Simply running the install command for the 3800 as suggested by Roy did not solve my problem. I finally manually deleted all the QTR files (Applications Folder and Library Folder), and did a fresh install of QTR and then followed the instructions for creating a Quad3800 printer in the System Preferences. Then everything worked.
