I have been using Ilford Smooth papers on my 3800 for both colour and B&W and have been happy with the results. I was a bit concerned then to see that Ilford had released a new version of the papers, with an "improved" coating. Having obtained a sample pack, I have just completed a first-pass set of curves for QTR (UCpk ink). The new paper prints noticeably warmer than the original, and this shows up in my new colour profiles and in the QTR curves. The good news is that this paper can still give good linearity and neutrality up to a Dmax of nearly 2.5. The bad news, at least for 3800 users, is that Ilford will not be producing A2 sheets in this new version. They tell me that sales in this size do not justify keeping it. I have posted the curves, along with an Excel spreadsheet showing the i1 measurements, in the "Files" section. I'm not suggesting they are perfect as yet, so I would appreciate any feedback from anyone that would like to try them. Roger
