Funny... I've had my 1800 for 1 year now running CIS with no problems whatsoever.. I do tend to leave it turned on though.. does this make a difference ? Don't know... guess I will keep my fingers crossed.

There have been lots of problems with the 1800 carts. While I have not used a CIS with the 1800, the 3 inexpensive SuperjetUSA CISs I've set up have worked very well. One of those might be worth trying -- much cheaper than a new printer.
