QTR-Quadtone RIP

I have a fabulous old Epson 7000 loaded up w Piezography inks that appears to be working perfectly .... except I can't get QTR to recognize it and run the QTR install script. 

Here is what  QTR says:

XXX Cannot find an Epson USB printer with the name 7000
The printer must be turned on, plugged in to computer and ready
Resetting the printer may be necessary.
XXX

The printer is plugged in via USB. I've turned off, turned on, reset, etc.

This is on Snow Leopard. I'm using the most recent version of QTR version, including the Snow Leopard patch.
