I assume you would only be doing all that if the standard curves are not 
producing linear results for you and/or the dmax you have achieved with 
a calibration print?

As a matter of interest (I have recently acquired a 3800 but not yet 
used it for B & W) what Dmax are you acheiving on Photo Rag with the 
Epson inks? Same question to Joost?
