Using a PC and WInn XP with 2.7.0.0 I just printed out my first ink characterization page. I am using 1400 and my settings were Printer Epson Stylus 1400 and the printing model was <Quad1400-K6> The Ink Calibration slider was set to 100 for the 1st sheet. Two questions to start: It's a 6 ink printer; why are there 8 Step Wedges? After I print the next sheet with the ink Calibration slider set to 60 as seem appropriate the help file says "Now measure the density of each ink in terms of the darkest ink" My problem is I don't understand the meaning of "in terms of the darkest ink" ! Does that mean start the darkest step as apparent to the eye and call that 100%? I'm sure all this will be clear as mud in the morning but if for now I think I could use a hand. Thanks. Bye the way - I'm having a go at some uncoated *but internally sized) watercolour paper and if I can get the hang of it I'll re-do it with some GOLDEN brand precoating. Anyone else tried the Golden products yet? ....Phiegze
