The Artisan 50 isn't supported but you are right that the specs look very similar so it may be possible that you can pretend its an R280 and use that driver. To do this look at the end of Tutorial.pdf where is shows Bonjour setup. Use this method but select your printer via usb and call it QuadR280. Then you can run the InstallR280 script to install the curves. Try it out and see what happens. Note that there are only single-ink black-only curves for this setup.
