QTR-Quadtone RIP

Setup:

Mac OS 10.6
Photoshop CS5
OVI Hextone Inks
Epson Stylus Pro 3800

I can print an inkseparation8.tif file out of Preview just fine for calibration. I can also print it out of Photoshop if I alter the color space to sRGB as recommended by someone on another forum. (However, I have no idea why that works or how.)

What I cannot do is make a simple print of an existing .psd layered file without it printing with what appears to be the MK ink only. My set of Hextone inks is decidedly brown toned and none of the browns from dark to light show in these test print at all.

Since the calibration prints have plenty of brown in them, I have to assume that printing in non-calibration mode is to blame by I have tried every variation of settings I can think of and all prints come out exactly the same. I have even altered the .qidf file and reinstalled it and still nothing changes.

If someone is using the same setup I have, I really need to know/see all your printing settings to see what I am missing. 

Any and all help will be appreciated as I find the manuals largely useless and advice to run out and spend $300 on gadget X even less helpful.
