QTR-Quadtone RIP

Just to be clear - the QTR curve/profile MUST be for the specific
printer/paper/inkset and ink installation order. For example, the QTR
profile tells the magenta channel to lay down dots in a specific pattern and
density. If the magenta cartridge has an ink with a different density/color
than QTR thinks it does, then you get a complete and irretrievable mess.
Also, the profile contains the linearization data the keeps the density
consistent for different papers in a specific printer. For example if you
use Cone K7 inks, you need their QTR profile for a 3800 for their inks - and
for the paper used. The inks also have to be installed in the order they
specify since it has to match the ink assignments in the profile. If you
stick with the Epson OEM inks, QTR comes with profiles to control the K3
inks in that printer.
 
It's the same with anything controlling a printer. The Epson driver knows in
which slots the specific K3 inks are installed and what printer they are in.
If you print using the Epson driver with Cone, OVI, or MIS monochromatic
inks installed, you'll get a print, but an extremely bizarre one. Not that
it won't be interesting!

If you have curves for any papers (I want to have all on hand that I can)
using hextone inks in the Epson 3800 printed from a Mac with CS5, I would
appreciate a copy.

I don't know which paper(s) I will settle on yet so it makes sense just to
gather as many existing curves as possible.
