1400 Claria B&W PDF and QTR Profiles (Digital Print cross-post)

2011-12-08 by Paul

My central 1400 Claria PDF will be posted at

The profiles are at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/1400-Claria-Profiles.zip

This is still definitely a work in progress -- which might be slow at the moment.

Controlling the Lab A and B axes seems fairly easy with QTR. I recently made sepia -- light and dark -- profiles, as well as what I've sometimes referred to as the "LensWork" warm type profile.

The color drift has settled down and is within very acceptable ranges, particularly if mostly black ink is used. The "variable ABW" approach with the QTR sliders seems to work reasonably well for smoothing the black ink dots when needed.

Overall, I'd say this approach looks like it can provide a very flexible color + B&W approach for uses where prints are not going to be under glass. Under glass, it's still 100% carbon for me.
