Install more than one of a type of printer

Install more than one of a type of printer

2012-04-20 by nmenghardt

Hello,

This might be a question specifically for Roy, but I figured maybe someone else has run in to this issue and found a solution:

Our Advanced Imaging Lab (Mac Environment) has several printers in it, all Epsons:

4880 with MK ink set
4880 with PK ink set
7600 K7
7800 with PK Ink set
9880 with PK Ink set

All printers are connected via TCP/IP

I'm able to install all the quad versions of the printers on our QTR workstation, however I'm not able to install BOTH of the 4880s. I currently have the Quad4880 installed for the 4880 MK printer.

Every time I run the install4880.command unix file, it just installs all the curves for the 4880 MK as it's designed to do.

What I need is a solution to install both 4880s via TCP/IP.

Yes, I know that the students can simply use the 9880 PK for any size rather than the 4880, however we're starting to see higher usage in the lab which requires all printers to be accessible by the QTR printing station.

Thanks in advance for any solutions or insight or even pointing out that I'm missing something painfully obvious.

Hi,

First you have to install manually a printer for each couple of printer/inkset with a specific name like QuadPrinter-inkset, for exemple Quad4880-MK.

After, you have to create a directory under /QuadToneRIP/profiles for each couple of printer/inkset with this rule printername-inkset, for exemple 4880-MK.

In each directory, you have to copy and rename InstallPrinter-inkset.command file and dedicated curves files.
Execute command script to install curves with the associated printer.

You will found informations in Roy's tutorial.

That worked perfectly!

I was scouring the documentation and couldn't find it.

Thanks so much for your help, it's very much appreciated.
