rgb vs gray profiles

rgb vs gray profiles

2012-08-22 by cornelis.robert

I've installed both the 9890-K7 and the 9890-UC curves. I have 6 QTR files in the QTR folder in my colorsync profile folder. But only the 3 rgb profiles are showing up in Photoshop when trying to select the profile in the color management section of the driver interface.

I wondered if somehow installing both versions of the 9890 causes such a problem? Not sure how it could. But can't understand how both the 3 gray and the 3 rgb .icc files are there in the folder but only the rgb.icc files show up in the profile dropdown menu in the driver interface.

Any suggestions?

Rob,

Piezography does not use standard QTR workflow and does not use the ICC profiles... just wanted to let you know that in case you are trying to use K7 with the QTR manual. Better to download the Piezography K7 manual here:

Having said that we will release new update manual for the huge array of Mac OS and Photoshop combinations since 10 was released to compensate for the Apples fun with color management experiments... On Windows its business as usual of course... but still download our K7 QTR manual.

Jon

Thanks for the info and the link - I downloaded the pdf manual and read through it. It is very helpful and it all makes sense.

One problem I run into, however, is that I am only seeing rgb profiles in the print dialogue so cannot select "Photoshop manages color" and "gamma 2.2" as you recommend to duplicate "no color management". None of the greyscale or cmyk profiels display in the drop down menu. Is there some other way to duplicate no color adjustment?

I am running Photoshop CS6 on a Mac OS 10.6.8.

Regards
Bob
