File name for QTRGui for Mac?

File name for QTRGui for Mac?

2012-09-06 by alnhrk

Today I needed to install Quadtone RIP for the Mac on my custom printer's machine. After we installed the software we were unable to locate the file for the QTR GUI. I'm used to running QTRGui.exe on my PC, and I didn't see any related file name in the installation folder on the Mac. We did see files for creating ICC profiles, viewing curves, and linearization, but not for the GUI itself. Could someone please tell me the actual file name we should be looking for? Thanks.

It doesn't exist - QTR on the Mac installs as a printer driver - this
wasn't possible on the PC when it was ported to Windows, so QTRgui was
created to control it (its easier than the first hack to use QTR on the
PC, which required dual booting into Linux!). There are separate
instructions for use with the Mac on quadtonerip.com. (I can't help
further, sorry, as I use a PC)

There are some programs in the QuadtoneRIP directory to make curves and ICC's. To print however, you will first need to "install" the appropriate QTR printer and curves. There should be instructions on how to do this in the Documents sub folder. Then, you simply select it as a printer in Photoshop. The QTR printer name will start with "Quad".

My apologies if the directory names are incorrect. I'm going from memory.

Transforming a 16bit RVB TIF to gray scale for QTR

2012-09-10 by Sylvain M.

Hi all,

I just received 16bit TIF files to be printed with QTR.
After a chek with Aftershot Pro, it appears that those files are 16 bit
RVB, not gray scale...

How can I change those files to 16bit gray
scale? (note: I don't have Photoshop, but Gimp and AfterShot Pro).

Thx
for your support!

Sylvain.
