calibration mode

I'm trying to test correct ink placement in a Piezography installation. I printed out the "relative ink density measurement" target in calibration mode, calibration ink limit = 100, 1440 res, unidirectional. I'm on Mac OS 10.6.8 printing through Photoshop CS6. It is very hard to turn off color management in this environment - the closest I've figured out to do this is to open the target in Adobe RGB and select Wide Gamut RGB as the output space. You can't turn off color management nor can you select the same output space as the file is in. Way too much ink was printed, smeared all over the page. Any suggestions about what might be causing this?
