Artisan 1430

2012-12-12 by Laurence Schiffenhaus

Just upgraded from the 1400 to the 1430.. QTR only lists the 1400-K6. How do I get QTR to utilize the 1400 curves. When I hit "install 1400-K6 command" it says it can't find a printer with that name. Is there a procedure I am missing somewhere? Need a little help on this setup. Thank you.

I would try re-naming the printer to the original 1400 "name"..And then hit the install command...

Don't rename printers -- it only does part of the job.

Create the printer in Print&Fax or Print&Scan.
Name it Quad1400-K6 and using QTR Epson 1400 driver.
Now run the Install1400-K6 script.
(you can see something similar in the Bonjour section of Tutorial.pdf)

Artisan 1430

Can anyone give me the steps to set up the Artisan 1430 to function as a 1400-K6. Roy said you can't just change the name. You need to create it in Print&Scan. I can't seem to find this step in Print&Scan.

Hi Laurence~

I am head of technical support at Inkjetmall, the creators of Piezography. To print with Piezography inks and QTR with your new 1430, you will need to duplicate the entire 1400-K6 folder (containing curves and the install command), and rename the new folder "1430-K6", then rename the install command in that folder "install1430-K6.command", and run the 1430-K6 install command (you will have to install the regular Epson print driver first). I am not certain (ROY can better answer this), but you may also have to duplicate the 1400PPD to make a 1430PPD, but try the curve folder and install command first.

Best regards~ Dana :)

Laurence and Dana,

In the recent patch for Mavericks I've included some new install scripts.
Even if you are not running Mavericks yet the new install scripts make setting up the 1430 easier.
So download the mavericks zip file, open the zip. Drag the Install1430-K7=1400.command
script into your 1400-K6 folder. (I see I've used K7 in the script name. Doesn't really matter
but you can change the name to K6). Running this script will set everything up.
