Using QTR to move MK ink from K slot to C slot? (keeping UC profiles)

Using QTR to move MK ink from K slot to C slot? (keeping UC profiles)

2013-06-07 by guycarnegie

I have a Epson R2880.

I'm looking for a way to switch the ink cartridge locations, while retaining the set of Ultrachrome K3 inks.

In particular, I need to switch the main black with the Cyan, but I've no idea how to do this.

Hardware-wise, I'm retaining the cyan cartridge in its normal location, but I need to fill it with the MK black ink, and tell the printer and/or driver that it should look THERE for the MK ink, and not where it normally looks in the "K" slot.

This is possible as I'm using a CIS, and need to retain the 3K setup, but I want to set up two alternative profiles where one of them looks to the cyan cartridge for the MK, and the other one uses the standard Epson driver to find the PK ink in the standard "K" slot.

Can someone tell me which files I have to edit, and preferably how?

I hope not to have to reprofile as I'll still be using the same inks on the same paper - just moving the location.

many thanks and kind regards
Guy

Open up the curve/profile for the paper you are using in a text editor. (NOT Word nor anything that supports formatting... a pure text-only editor.)

You'll see the list of values (the curve) applied to each ink underneath its heading. These are in order of cartridge. Copy everything for one ink, including the heading, and move it to the new location. Then save the file.

Best to do this on a copy of the file just in case there are problems.
