A2+ printer with MIS Eb inks

A2+ printer with MIS Eb inks

2013-12-02 by Sylvain M.

Hi all,

I'm currently using an Epson 1400 with Eboni inks, and I'm asking myself whether I could find a solution to get A2+ format.

It seems that there is unfortunately no A2+ printer using 1.5pl heads like the 1400.

Knowing that I'm able to create my own profiles, would the 3880 be a smart solution with Eboni?

Thank you for your comments/ideas!

Have a nice day.

The 3880 is a great printer. But Eboni inks and curves for it may not be readily available.
It is bigger dots but results will probably not be too much different.

The 3880 can do quite will with the standard Epson inks, too. They are the UltraChrome
and have multiple grays already.

I have never used a 3800/3880, however some are using it with Eboni-6. Take a look at this outfit: http://www.kenleegallery.com/html/carbon/index.php

I use a variant of Eb6 in a 7800. The larger drops can actually be an advantage with some papers in that they print more neutrally. With Epson Hot Press it's about the same print tones. Note that I use some HP pigments in my 7800 for more neutral prints. See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/7800-EbHP-2013.pdf . The profiles I make for the 7800 might be close enough to just linearize for the 3800, but I don't know.

If you do go that route, let us know how it goes.

Thx to Paul and Roy.

Of course, if I choose to use this printer
with Eboni, I will make a feedback. I still have to study the project
before making a decision....
Making my own profiles is not an issue, and
I would say that it is mandatory since I want to make my own ink
configuration.

Have a nice day
