QTR prints one line then a D17E error message

QTR prints one line then a D17E error message

2013-12-08 by <fallrivereditions@...>

I have been printing step tablet (digital negs) for the past week to an Epson 7900. Today QTR prints a single pass, stops, then an error D17E from the printer. The same exact file prints from Photoshop just fine!

info:
Windows 7 64 bit
I have uninstalled QTR and the printer and re-installed both.
Stopped and re-started the printer spooler as found here on the group
No other software/hardware installed recently

Any ideas?

Update: I just tried printing with QTR from a different computer (my laptop). The printer still makes a single pass, then stops and gives the error. I then tried printing the same file from CS6 and it prints fine on the laptop.

Next, I bypassed the spooler and clicked "Print directly to printer" from the printer preferences. Still no luck.

Something about my printer has suddenly stopped liking the files sent from QTR. Has anyone ever seen this?

Thanks,

Jake

Hi Jake,

I have no idea what this really is but one other person had this same thing months ago.
On Googling the error number there is one thread on Nikonians (?) that mentions it.
One observation was that it would work on 1440dpi but not 2880dpi (strange).
But I think what got it going again is a Reset on the printer front panel. See if you can
go through the panel menus and find something related to Reset. In the manual
you should find out how to get to Maintenance Mode.
Let me know how it goes.

Roy

Thanks, Roy, for your suggestions. We're back in business.

I found two methods to reset the 7900 to factory settings. Unfortunately, I did them both before attempting to print from QTR - not unlike my approach to adjusting QTR itself, I'll admit :-)

For future reference in case anyone else encounters this problem, I did the following:

1. Menu > Printer setup > Initialize settings > Execute

2. Maintenance mode (Pause + Power buttons) > Default panel > Execute

One of the above actions fixed the problem.

Thanks, again!

Jake
