Epson 3880 - how to prevent roller marks

A few inches into my prints, I see a smudge of ink which appears to be the shape of a roller. It prevents me from making prints which have light tones in that spot because it spoils the otherwise smooth tones.

Is there a way to open the printer, or feed something through it which will remove it ? I get when using Epson Hot Press Natural, which is a fairly thick matte paper.
