Purge K curve for the Epson 3880

Purge K curve for the Epson 3880

2014-03-30 by <al.benas@...>

After 2.5 years, my Epson 4900 choked up and refused to unplug several ink lines. I replaced it with the 3880 - rarely used the roll, so it seemed the way to go. The problem is that I had grown addicted to the Purge K curve for the 4900 - I really liked the all black (M/PK) look with the paper-white background. The 3880 does not have that option in its canned curves.
Has anyone developed such a curve for the 3880 or seen one anywhere. I have no equipment/software capability to build my own curves; basically tweek the best canned option to match my work. On the modern printers, the B/O print looks just as detailed as the multi-dilution black print, but has a certain look that I find very nice. And I've had no luck finding a way to override the Epson driver to use B/O in high-end printing. The QTR 4900 curve was it.

Just move the Purge K curve over to the 3880 folder. ;The printers are similar enough
that I think you'll get similar results.

Thanks, Roy. I copied the Purge K curve over to the 3880 folder. The initial results were way too dark and I got an error message stating that I didn't have ten inks. So I opened the curve file in "notepad" and removed all references to Orange and Green and resaved. That seemed to do it. Added my same minor gamma tweeks and the print looks good, and life is looking good, again :-)
Thanks for a great program.
