Yosemite and print alignment

2015-01-29 by gilaprint@...

I just up dated my mac computer to Yosemite, and my prints are once again not centering on the paper when I use QTR Print Tool 3. I have version 1.0.7. and am printing on an epson 9800 with piezo/

I remember this as one of the things that use to drive me crazy ... and in my previous Mac OS with QTR things were good ... I also wonder if this means that once again the mac is contaminating and overriding other printing programs.

Do I need to update QTR or is there something else I can do so the print prints with the boundaries I set in the page setup?

You should upgrade to latest QTR driver and Print-Tool.

I did the upgrade and paid a little more attention.

After the upgrade same problem the image is not centered in the page, and when I looked at the print it is also printing about 10% smaller and the print is a whole lot darker .. so something is amiss with the profiles.

So I found I did not uninstall the old program .. threw the icon out of the app folder. Same problem.

did a restart - same problem

uninstalled by throwing the new icons out of Application folded .. and reinstalled from my down load - same problem

I might not being doing the uninstall right - if there is an app for it.

Need help to get Print Tool to work with Yosemite for

2015-02-02 by gilaprint@...

So far I have been unable to get the quadtone Print Tool work with a Yosemite up date would appreciate any help.

I updated my Mac Pro with a new SSD to run the OS. I partitioned the SSD hard drive into two sections. I used the Disk Utilities to copy the 10.8.6 OS I was using onto both sections. So I would have the original system available as a back up. I then updated one of the partitions to Yosemite. Next I updated from CS4 to CC in photoshop ... I then found I needed to update the Epson Utility for my 9800 after that I updated Print Tool.

I use Quadtone to print K7 Piezography on an Epson 9800

The Prints were resized to a slightly smaller print, and no longer printed on the page where I had placed them in Print Tool, and I also found the prints looked dark so the profile was off.

Next I updated The QuadToneRIP. The only change was perhaps the prints seemed even a bit more darker and flatter.

Then I uninstalled everything from QTR by throwing everything in and folders and the icons into the trash, removed the old printer from System Preferences and reinstalled first QTR and then the Print Tool. After this the print looked good but it was still reduced in size and not properly placed on the page.

I then restarted from the other partition on the SSD that had the original program setup - and everything worked great with the old OS.

Have folks been able to get Yosemite to work ??? any idea of what to try ??

thanks michael

Hi Michael,

You've got a lot of stuff that you've changed so its pretty hard to tell anything for sure.
But if you want to run on Yosemite, you've got to have the latest QTR driver 2.7.5
and latest Print-Tool 1.1.0.

I'd start with reseting the print system because who knows what you've got.
It's a hidden command -- open System Preferences > Print&Scan
right-click (or ctrl-click) in the box with list of printers. You'll get the reset command.
It cleans out everything so other print drivers must also be reloaded.

Then you can run the Install9800-K7.command script to get the printer.
Try some simple stuff first -- small image, standard paper and see what you get.

Roy

I did the reset - deleted all my printers ... I only have the QTR Driver 2.7.5 & PT 1.1.0 installed, and tried printing with only the Quad printer installed.

same problem ... on a 6x9 print it is reducing the size of the print by 5/8 to the 9, and it adds a little under an inch to the bottom.

so what should I try next.

Anyone out there all updated with Adobe CC, Yosemite, and an epson 9800 - and getting it to work. ???
