Mac 0S10.2 Yosemite Epson 9800 fail with Print-tool 1.1.0

Mac 0S10.2 Yosemite Epson 9800 fail with Print-tool 1.1.0

2015-03-07 by gilaprint@...

A month back I upgraded my 9800/Mac system to Yosemite/Print-tool1.1.0/Photoshop CC/Epson Updates ... and the upgrade never worked properly.

The big problem is Quadtone is resizing the prints slightly smaller and not placing them on the page properly. There are some other small gremlins like if I want to proof a bunch of images ... the queue will not work smoothly ... and if I use the "show presets" it will erase all the presets - several small things like this.

I did ask the community and Roy if anyone had successfully updated a similar system. And to date I have not seen a reply that confirms some one has gotten everything to work. I have a lot of final prints to do and I am hoping to use the updated system.

So I am looking for help resolving this issue. Or at least a confirmation that someone else has gotten and updated mac 9800 system to work.

Here is a bit more information for the curious.

Last time I updated was way back when ... and I noted the problem with not getting a proper profile ... It seemed it took a couple years for folks to believe it was going on and offer a fix ... other then the - you get really beautiful prints even with a slightly skewed profiling - which was true enough. But not why we use this beautiful and precise printing system.

So this time I though I would be smarter - I bought a new big ssd and portend it ... put the old operating system and programs on in one partition and then updated the old OS in the other partition.

This allows me to go back to the old system if I am desperate to print. ... Put it is not an ideal solution as having a partitioned hard drive and flipping between them is a little like have two computers emails ... addresses iTunes ... all start to get mucked up. So Ideally I am looking to get the updated system to work.

After 30 days ... I let the trial for photoshop CC lapse ... I did not deinstall ... and I am back in CS4 doing all my work. Makes me think the gremlins are not in photoshop.

I did have some other problems with Yosemite .. and the folks at Mac have been helpful ... and they have also indicated that there are some ongoing issues for photographers ... in photoshop. So I would surmise it is a Yosemite Print-tool issue. Unless it is something Epson has created with their new updates.

I have done the deinstall install ad noisome for print-tool - after the fifth sixth time you start to think ... its properly installed. It takes me two days to do the down load for Yosemite ... and a day for CC ... I did have a Yosemite melt down so I have done one reinstall for that early on in the journey ... can not wrap my mind around any reason to repeat this.

Hopefully ... I can get this to work in the next few weeks ...

so again .. anyone having success with the yosemite/mac/printool 1.1.0. Any suggestions to try to get it to work. I have another couple weeks before I need to make exhibition prints - flipping between OS on the computer is not really a long term solution. So I would appreciate some help.

Hi Michael,

There do still seem to be issues with Yosemite and I think its also in Mavericks.
The size shrinking is very weird. I did some changes back when Mavericks
first came out.
So far I have:
>> Its only on pro printers with large margin at bottom of page.
>> Its only on custom sizes -- but not on all custom sizes (this is strangest).
>> Its not a matter of what you put in the margins when you create paper size.

Presets work fine if you avoid the "Show Presets" function.

---------------
So I'm trying to find workarounds for these but its not obvious.

Roy

Gee, thanks for this information as this issue has been driving me crazy. I am on MAC 10.9.5, with Print Tool 1.1, and an Epson 7800, and have experienced constant problems with the image being re-sized to a smaller size, with the large margin at the bottom of the page. However, the shrinking is happening with both menu sizes and custom sizes. In fact, I had created some custom sizes hoping those would eliminate the shrinking, but it did not.
