Comparison of Stock vs. Custom Linearization

I was curious about how much difference linearizing an existing profile for my Epson 2200 would make. So, I did the linearization with the 21 step chart (with Eye One Pro), printed 51 step charts for stock and custom linearization, and graphed the results. That plus a few statistics and the raw data from QTR-Linearize-Data are in the Files section of the group under this name: Custom Linearized QTR Profile.pdf The worst 40% of deviations from an ideal line between measured black and white averaged 2.11 (Delta L*) for Stock Profile, only .93 for Custom LInearized Profile. Take-home point: there was a modest, but clear improvement with the custom linearization. For details see the file mentioned above. --John
