QTR support for Epson P6000/P7000?

QTR support for Epson P6000/P7000?

2016-02-11 by sanking@...

I am currently using QTR 2.7.7 with El Capitan, and see that there is support for the Epson P600 and P800. Do these profiles also work with the P6000/P7000?

If not, are the P6000/P7000 likely to be supported in future versions of QTR?

Hi Sandy,

I've had someone try out QTR driver with a P9000 and the report was that all worked.
BTW, the P20000 looks too different and not likely to work.

Just rename the install scripts -- this should do it:
InstallP6000=7890.command
InstallP7000=7900.command

The curves will need to be different because the inks have changed.
I believe the P800 curves should work or be a good start.
For your dig negs curves you know more than I do.

Roy

Roy,
I hate to keep asking, but my experience, on a Win 7 machine, is that P800 curves are not working on a P800. Not only do they not produce a complete image on 17" photo paper, they band terribly when printing on 13" matte paper at 1440 dpi (as recommended by the paper manufacturer). From the zero responses that I've received, it appears that no one else is using a P800 ... or printing on 17" paper. I don't know if it's the curves or me, and I've been using QTR for at least 6 years and 3 other printers with no issues.

Hi Al,

Looks like I missed your previous posts, sorry.
I don't have a P800 so its hard for me to test much.

First I'd do all printing at 2880dpi -- its what the curves were made for.
Are you using the built-in 17x22 paper size?

Al, I posted elsewhere that I have a P800, and found some of the pre-installed curves to be not as accurate as I would like (probably because they were made with the P600?). I am making some new curves as a I have time, that I will upload them and send them to Roy when I have a group of them ready to go.

If you want to have prints that work with your set up, and printing at 1440, then you will have to make your own. I think learning the profiling process is really beneficial in seeing what your printer and materials are capable of providing, and it can inform how you do further adjustments before hitting print.

Thank you for responding; at least someone has experienced these issues. After a while, you start to doubt your own sanity.

I would agree that trying to use P600 based curves on the P800 could be the problem. I have to depend on shared curves as I no longer have any of the required hardware to do meaningful curves for my papers. I have survived for many years until I bought the P800. So I look forward to your future contributions and your QTR book that you referred to on your Capture One tutorials. Thanks for those as well.
