New Print Tool

2016-09-12 by mark@...

Can not seem to zoom out (magnify) less then 50% when I have a 24"x24" page set. So I have to scroll left and right to position images. That can't be right, what am I missing?

Mark,

Looks like I should allow smaller magnifications.

Multiple Print Tool apps open at same time

2016-10-27 by Mark Savoia

I have several printers I am printing to. If I make a duplicate of the Print Tool application and open two copies of it, can I set each one up for each printer with page size, profile, etc. so I can just add files to print into each app and print to both printers at the same time? How about three printers at the same time? Could I just leave all copies open at the same time and not cause any confusion in the “master preferences file” for the application?

Yeah. I’ve done this without problem. It will remember the settings for whatever the last thing you did in the last Print-Tool you had open.

All the QTR settings are set in apple.print.(Your printer) pref files so are separate from your Print-Tool. All good.

best,
Walker

So I see the trick is NOT to close any of the versions already open.

There's only one preferences file so it will get over-written. But as
long as you just keep things open the 2 versions will be independent.

Doing it that way right now, very helpful.

Would be kind of cool to be able to open several workspace windows within Print Tool, each dedicated to a different printer with settings for each. Perhaps a future idea.

I like it too, thanks for that idea!
Changing the icons to Print Tool 1500 and Print Tool 3880 even makes it easier to switch with keyboard shortcuts.

Print Tool - file used?

2016-11-04 by Mark Savoia

Using Print Tool. When I add a file to the layout and it prints, does it reference the file from its location on my hard drive? The reason I ask is if I update the file on my hard drive (like make a color correction, level adjustment, etc), do I need to delete it from Print Tool and add it again, or will it print the file I updated outside the program?

I could be wrong about this but I think it imports into ram or tmp when you drag it to print-tool.

It’s not like studioprint. You do have to re-import the file if you have changed and saved it.

Walker

Print Tool vs Epson driver

2016-11-28 by Mark Savoia

I wouldn’t believe it if it wasn’t happening, but just made two color prints to compare Print Tool output versus direct out of Photoshop to Epson driver. There is a color difference. I checked all settings, using exact same custom profile. Have not noticed this before but dealing with a very mute color in the image. Comes out more red in Print Tool.

Just confirmed it by printing another image, triple checked all my settings. Color is different.

Any ideas???

Hi Mark

I'd like to see what you9;ve found. Contact me directly would probably be best.
I need versions of everything -- OSX, PS, Print-Tool -- and screen captures to show
which settings you've checked.
