Curve for Permajet or Distinction (UK) Premium Fibre Based Papers

Curve for Permajet or Distinction (UK) Premium Fibre Based Papers

2016-09-13 by xbl4814

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has a custom curve for any of the premium papers available in the UK (Permajet or Fotospeed) using Permajet CIS system for R3000.

As advised by my Royal Photographic Society mentor, I have been using Epson Advanced Black and White procedure to print my panel, which is all monochromes. However this is giving me a slight magenta cast because I am not using Epson inks and papers.

Kind regards
Adrian

I think the easiest solution in your circumstances is simply to alter
the tone in the ABW settings. I've had a similar problem (magenta cast)
when using third-party inks and I was able to get very neutral ABW
prints by shifting the "Horizontal" adjustment towards the green.
Something in the region of -15 did the trick for me, and it was neutral
across the full tonal range.

I think you would be very lucky to find someone using QTR with your
exact set-up to share curves.

Adrian

I use the Permajet CIS system on a R2880, same inks and have my own neutral curves for Fibre Gold Silk and Fotospeed Platinum Baryta. I too tried to neutralise ABW mode and found it impossible throughout the tonal range. My curves have a slightly deeper Dmax than anything that I could get out of ABW. My curves are for a windows system and I don't know if it is simple to use them on a mac. I also don't know if a simple rename will allow them to be used on a R3000 when they were produced for a 2880. Their are enough experts here to tell me however. Hope this helps. Ken

Hi Roger

Thanks for your reply and I was experimenting with the colour "tone" settings in the advanced section. I had gone with H = -7 and V = -7.

But will try your suggestion of just tweaking the horizontal setting to -15

Kind regards
Ade
