Epson 7890 partial image printing

Epson 7890 partial image printing

2016-09-22 by paulkohl9@...

I am using a iMac/El Capitan OS/Epson 7890 QuadTone (Quad Tone K7, Cone inks) to print through Print Tool.

Using a 24in roll to print images that are are about 20 inches wide by 15 high. The paper dimensions are set at 61cm (wide) by 60cm (high). The image display is perfect.

When it prints I get one corner of the image and then it stops printing and cuts the paper.

I have checked and double checked the paper sizes and images and everything seems right.

Any ideas about what to do. The images, by the way, are tiff files with a pro photo profile...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Paul

The firs thing to do is convert the images to Gray Gamma 2.2. This is required for Piezography. (ProPhoto is closer to Gray Gamma 1.8 btw).

Try this and then we’ll go from there.

Paul

The trouble is that 61cm is too wide -- so it reverts back to default size which is US Letter.

Define the width as 60cm -- or 609mm and you should be alright.

Walker,

I think I will never move again once I get all these bugs out of the system.

I am working with a new computer (27'' iMac/el capitan os 10.11(? but it is the newest version)...

I have had to reinstall Quad Tone and Print Tool and now the installation isn't working. I am getting that "Quad Tone doesn't support the Epson 7890" thing again and the Quad Tone Driver is not visible in the printer list of print tool.

Could you tell me what I must do to get the installation to work?

Sorry to have to go through this again!

Paul This is a duplicate to a message I sent to Peizography Forum...sorry for the doubling...

Please see my response on the forum and follow those instructions.

Basically you have moved in a million directions and just garbled up the system.

Time to start over with fresh install after deleting some files.

best,

I wonder if the new version of Print Tool is able to handle a direct loading of the Quad Tone K-7 driver? Or, do I need to do the renaming as instructed before?
Thanks,
Paul

Paul. I’m not sure what you are asking here.

PrintTool works perfectly with QuadtoneRIP. It always has and always will.

The driver itself is independent of PrintTool. It’s a system-level CUPS/Gutenprint driver that any application capable of doing proper color management can hook into. PrintTool is the only application at the moment that can do the proper color management.

Again sorry, what I was asking is the Quad Tone K7 driver needed to be renamed when launched in Terminal as it wasn't able to recognized in Print Tool. Has that changed? Do I still need to rename the Quad Tone driver before it is opened in Terminal?
Paul

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
