Install into new computer with El Captain

Just got a new Mac but can't seem to get the install of QTR done right.
Have mutiple hard drives which could be part of my issue.
I install QTR but computer refused to pt it into applications on user HD instead put in on system start up... so I manually moved it. As a test wrote small profile and tried to insall it and got errors and a permission denied message. No quad info either.
Any info would be appreciated
