QTR Question: Configuring Paper sizes

QTR Question: Configuring Paper sizes

2005-11-21 by LMH

I recently downloaded QTR for evaluation. I have run several prints on an Epson 2000P and an Epson 4000.
After running two prints, each with a custom size of 1/2 sheet of HPhoto-Rag, on the Epson 4000, everything went well. When I changed the size to A3 everything went well. However, I then changed the size to 13x19 inches, which is Super B, I was able to print one print at that size. After that one print printed, when I use 13x19 inch size, the Epson 4000 indicates the paper is the wrong size.
This paper works well when I print through Photoshop, so something appears to be going wrong when I use the QTR. I like the control this RIP provides and I like the price, I really want to see this RIP work for me.
Can anyone provide some ideas, I have gone through everything in terms of the configuration, I am considering removing the RIP and re-installing it. WIN XPSP2 is somewhat unstable in that the registry almost continually gets error written to it. Eventually, a piece of software may lose the ability to perform correctly and need re-installation.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem. Any assistance in fixing this will be appreciated, otherwise good Black and White printing is out the window for me. I am a start up and an expensive RIP is not viable now. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Luther,
Like you, I too have an Epson 2000P. There are no profiles for the
2000P in the download. Where did you get your profiles from? I need a
source of the profiles. Can you or anyone help please.

Best Wishes,
John

Luther,

I doubt the registry is an issue. Running QTR doesn't use it, just the
installation.

One problem you might be having is printing on the same sheet of paper
more than once.
If the leading edge of a sheet has dark areas the printer's optical
paper sensor is confused
into thinking there's no paper or smaller paper loaded. If you want to
do this you can
print at the trailing end first and then print on the leading end.

As I mentioned in another post the 2000P has no profiles available. It
would require getting
a custom inkset and custom profiles for it.
