New free macOS utility for making custom target images
2018-11-14 by richard@...
I've been working on native Mac profiling apps that don't require outside tools like Excel or ColorPort and built this little target generation utility for a much larger QuadToneRIP profiler project.
This target generator utility will be most useful for people using my existing QuadToneProfiler Excel tools that requires different ink limits for each gray ink. Those methods required using a reference file, color port, and a Photoshop action to make and format the separation image, but I've bypassed all that to make the image directly in this little app (getting it to make the correct rib values without color management was a little fun.)
It can also be useful for people who are not using my tools, but want to reorder the ink calibration image to only print the inks they want without all the other inks. It only supports the the 8 ink printers for the moment, but I'll add orange and green soon.

It also has a beta version of a grayscale target generator I built. It will be part of the larger profiling app I'm working on and will be able to "decode" and average multiple random patches. That stuff isn't fully built out yet, but this might be useful to some people in its current state.
