R800 not printing
2005-11-28 by teeproo
Hi, I have been trying to print on a Epson R800/QuadR800 with QTR in WinXP, but no luck so far. I have used both version 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 and just about every possible setting in QTR I can think of. If I use one of the 1440 resolutions the sending of the data to the spooler/printer gets stuck at some point. The 2880 dpi works better in the sence that all the data is sent to the printer, but nothing is printed, the printer is not even loading the paper. If I preload the paper by pressing the sheet/trashcan button, it's just ejected after the printer has recieved all the data. Again, nothing is printed. I have tried using both 8 and 16-bit b/w TIFFs saved in Picture Window Pro 3.5, the 16-bit version is about 12 MB and the thumbnail shows up fine in QTR. Ordered dithering seems to be the fastest alternative, it generates about 65 MB of data and takes 10-15 minutes on a Athlon XP 1800. The only warning in the log file is as below, QuadToPrinter finishes without errors: calling ReadTIFF TIFFReadDirectory: Warning, F:\2005\11\27\Converted\051127_1325-020-03-8bit-bw.tif: unknown field with tag 34665 (0x8769) encountered The green light is flashing on the printer and turns to a solid green after all the data is sent and the job is removed from the spooler. I have tried direct printing, printing after the last page is spooled and start printing immediately, no difference. I even removed KB896423 from Windows as I noticed that people have had problems with it. No prints. I have gigs of free disk space and I have rebooted the server and the printer several times. I would appreciate if someone could point me to a b/w tiff that definitely prints, I could at least rule out errors in the file.
