print too small

print too small

2019-06-18 by paulmwhiting@...

I'm pretty sure this issue has been discussed before but I couldn't find it. Sorry to have to repeat it!

I'm printing on an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet and the print does not fill the page, it's about the size of a 5x7 and is positioned in the center of the page.

Am using Windows 10 and the subject is several strips of b/w negatives on a light table. At 180 ppi the actual size is about 14x10. I used PSElements to invert the negative strips to positive, which gives me a useful contact sheet.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

Paul W.

I forgot to mention I was working in jpg. The camera was shooting in jpg, and the file inversion (neg -> pos) was in jpg.

On a hunch, I deleted and re-installed QTR. Luckily my qidf and quad files were left alone. Anyway, the fresh install had the same issues, ie small prints, about 5x7 on letter size paper.

Can anyone suggest another forum? I know these Yahoo! fora are pretty quiet lately.

TIA,

Paul W.

Hi Paul

The issue is the .jpg format. For some reason the sizing of jpgs is problematic.
Simply convert to .tif and use .tif files and sizing will work much better.

Roy,

That did the trick. I remember that fix from a few years ago. Sorry, I should've dug a little deeper into my memory.

One more thing, possibly related: I did a Cntrl-L to see the histogram and it was practically invisible - just a straight horizontal line across the bottom of the graph. The jpg was almost as bad.

Thank you, Roy.

Roy,

I found my answer to the flat histogram question, with a little searching on the 'Net. My apologies, I was being lazy!
