Error Message when Creating Curves

I'm having a little difficulty with QuadTones Curve Creation section
utility and hope someone may be able to shed some light on what's
happening.
I've been printing with good results...everything else seems to work
except the Curve Creation portion. I've tried uninstalling the
software, used QTRcleanout and then reinstalled QuadTone...still no go.
for what it's worth I tryied loading the same version of QuadTone on
my son's laptop running Windows XP and it worked fine. The machine in
question is aslo running Windows XP.
This is the message that reports back then I click on "create Curve" :
QuadProfile version 2.3.2.1
The system cannot find the file specified.
The system cannot find the path specified.
Qdotgain did not return a valid curve at quadprofile.pl line 88
Curve Creation failed.
Any help would be appreciated,
